Sunday the 24th

Missing image

Nearly half a century later,

I remain enthralled

by every nuance ~

each breath drawn

brings me closer to the garden

where wildflowers

shall never perish.

Each sigh is a feather

brushing against my heart,

provoking the flight

of angels.

I must have done something right

to still be here & now ~

what it was,

I cannot imagine.

I have been gripped savagely

by the talons of Sorrow ~

I have been held tenderly

in the whispered embrace of Love.

Time that was wasted

brings regret to my furrowed brow ~

yet, there were moments

I cherished with gentle eyes.

I still have a long way to go

before this Journey is finished ~

the landscape is lovely

& subtle in its alterations

of Destiny's dream...

Sunday's my 48th birthday.
I've been writing poetry for over 33 years now.
Life is much too brief...& oh, so precious...

"Among the Haida Indians of the Pacific Northwest, the verb
for 'making poetry' is the same as the verb 'to breathe'."
~ Tom Robbins, from the book: 'ANOTHER ROADSIDE ATTRACTION'

Words of Wisdom

"I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit."

  • I have been reaquaitng myself with my old work, and yours. I hope you are well. It has been a trying year for me. I am learning alot. I appreciate the bravery here. It is inspiring. It is the human essense we poets celebrate; sometimes the ones who share our lives can't reconcile the reality and the mundane from the lofty. I'm tired, trying to be profound, when I just guess I'm saying I find you inspiring.

    Each sigh is a feather
in every word you send my nway
    as grace is ever present
in respect for art to share,

I am ever grateful for your soul
surrendering to the cost of writing
    in space beyond justification
where every word is born again.

It is short and precious. Short of Daybreak's subject, my best friend, asked me to come move furniture in his house. He lives in an underground house, with a view of forest and lake out the windowed front. Sometimes deer feed on his grass. There were four of us, late 40's, early fifties. I was the only one still married. The other two lost their wives to sickness... It was very sobering.
