Once Upon a Time in Dingly Dell..

Missing image

Once upon a time, when all was well
There was a home called the Dingly Dell,
A little home it was, o'er the hills
Where scents of lavendar sweetly fills.

A little girl was she, who lived alone
With none to care, not one known,
She dwelt with cheer and smiled all day
The sweetest song, she sang on her way,
While she went to pick the raspberry treats
Hoping along the dingly streets.

When her day is done and sun goes west
On soft red pillows, would her head go to rest
While fairies in white, come down and knock
On the broken windows which had no lock.
In they would come, with smiles so bright
With voltage enough to light up a night.

Then they would talk and talk and talk
As she recites the sights she saw on her walk,
And the fairies would take their turn to say
Of happenings in distant lands during the day;
And then would they play, a game or two
Beckoning the lillies and roses too..

With sounds of laughter piercing high
Jealous stars would peep from sky,
And then would they rest to have some sleep
With dreams so tender, sweet and deep,
Of curved rainbows and white snow flakes
Colored butterflies in Irish lakes.

Thus goes the tale of that little girl
With thick black hair and a tiny curl,
She lived in peace in the Dingly Dell
Where all is fine and all is well.

WOW! A wonderful poem for cute little childern! You presented your work fabulously! A nice story to follow, quite nice fairy tale! The flow of the poem was excellent, and the rhyme too. An enjoyable poem, all in all. Specially these lines were too good to read:
'When her day is done and sun goes west
On soft red pillows, would her head go to rest
While fairies in white, come down and knock
On the broken windows which had no lock.'

Well, a great work! Good luck in the contest!

I must agree, very well done.
Though one thing I wondered about, in line 10, should the word 'hoping' instead be 'hopping'? Just wondering.
I found the poem charming and I absolutely love the picture that you used, its so beautiful and really fits in well with the poem.
    Take care.
