When You Come

Lights dance,
In the distance.
I take a chance,
Release my tough resistance.
They flicker bright,
Like glimmers of hope.
I'm surrounded in night.
They'll help me cope.
Through them I'll find a way,
To leave this all behind.
My restless evil night will be day,
And finally I'll free my mind.

Author notes

This was written for my dear friends. This is for all the people who were with me through my suicidal times, my bipolar struggles and repeated hospitalizations. I love you all. You know who you are.
Written April 23rd, 2006

Update for contest entry: This would be a combination of Options 2 & 3. It's a love poem for all my friends, as well as a comfort for me in those moments when my Bipolar takes over and I seem to be someone else entirely.
