Tears descend down the crevices of this hollow log
The darkened forest chills me to the bone
The path which lay before me lies in a dense fog
I feel painfully sad and desire to be all alone
Would that fire would again consume this empty tree
Lying upon this soaked and dirty ground
Should the filth of the earth rise to cover and bury me
Upon my smoldering embers will dark clouds rain and drown
Would that my flaming tongue never spoke
Oh that purity would reign in my heart
That I should never more burden this yoke
Cruel words do not cause my friend to depart
