The Untamed Tongue

Missing image

Tears descend down the crevices of this hollow log

The darkened forest chills me to the bone

The path which lay before me lies in a dense fog

I feel painfully sad and desire to be all alone

Would that fire would again consume this empty tree

Lying upon this soaked and dirty ground

Should the filth of the earth  rise to cover and bury me

Upon my smoldering embers will dark clouds rain and drown

Would that my flaming tongue never spoke

Oh that purity would reign in my heart

That I should never more burden this yoke

Cruel words do not cause my friend to depart

Author notes

The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

    excellent~

Nothing is worse than a gossiping and hateful tongue...
The tongue has been many a cause for hatred misdeeds and even worse.....
It even says something about the tongue in the bible...My son and I ran a list of quotes from the internet about the tongue...
Didn't think there was that many places in the bible that spoke of gossip in the Bible but there is....
You have penned this well my friend....
I think the tongue should be used as like Talkingtoni said
For kindness and love instead of twisted lies and hurtful deeds....
    Love n hugs

    Accurate

This was a great way to get this message across!!!!!!! The tongue can be so hurtful sometime, even with out the speaker eevn knowing at times. But most of the time we do know that we are saying hurtful things and we seem to twist the knife deeper, if you will. You have a great choice with your words here and it rhymed and flowed beautifully!!!!!But we can also turn the pain we sometimes speak into healing by asking forgiveness to those whom we have let our tongues lash out against. So where it can bring hurt and hate, we can turn it around and speak kindness andlove. Super job here, thanks for writing and sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!Toni

    Good

Oh, how true, how true. No two edged sword is as sharp as the tongue; nothing opens greater wounds nor cuts as deep as the untamed tongue. Nothing has brought about more death and destruction. Nice work. Thanks for sharing.
