Dove at My Door

Missing image
She came to my door
With no apparent motivation
I desperately tried to ignore
My feelings of elevation

The visit was ever so brief
But in that time my soul
Found tranquil relief
As love filled an empty hole

A divine appointment to be sure
For once again she had a need
To help make her air more pure
That neither of us had perceived

It would seem that God the Father
Has given me much love
That he blesses and carries farther
For this beautiful delicate dove

Author notes

I was home from work taking a needed sick day when a friend of mine paid a visit. She had no idea I was even home. While we were there, we found and purchased an air filter for her air purifier. That was not the intention of her visit. We perceived that was God's intention.

Really pretty poem! It's got such joy and affection in it, and it's very inspirational. The rhyming scheme works really well also, very simple but effective. I especially love the part:
"The visit was ever so brief
But in that time my soul
    Found tranquil relief
As love filled an empty hole".
    Beautiful.
