It's not about the card you didn't receive
It's not about a lifeless undecorated tree
It's not about the success of a play
It's not about skating on a winter's day
It's bigger than the sadness you feel
It's about a love that is very real
It's about about a baby born and laid in the hay
It's about how God came to teach us a new way
It's about a sacrifice to save you and me
It's about Jesus who came to set us free
So let us dance and celebrate the day
Let us leap, let us run and let us play
Let us decorate our tree and hang our lights
For a star has come to brighten our nights
Author notes
Charlie Brown: [shouting in desperation] Isn't there anyone out there who can tell me what Christmas is all about?
Linus Van Pelt: Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you. Lights, please.
[a spotlight shines on Linus]
Linus Van Pelt: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were
[soer]
Linus Van Pelt: afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men'". That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie brown.

Very good.
Ah, the gospel according to Charles Shultz. You could always see the underpinning of the gospel in all of Shultz's work. Tis sad that he is no longer with us. So what do we get as a substitute today?......South Park. We certainly don't expect to see the gospel revealed there. "WHERE ARE YOU WHEN WE NEED YOU CHARLIE BROWN?"

After your comment on my page I decided to return the favour and read something of yours. Surprise, surprise, we obviously think along the same lines.I love this poem, it is funny without being irreverent, and it portrays the true meaning of Christmas, so what the heck if it needs tweeking here and there, for me it is perfect. Thankyou for sharing, you have my applause and a place on my favourites. I hope you have a joyful Christmas and a peaceful New Year. Val.

A definate Charlie Brown fan! The best part about Charles Shultz wasn't his cartooning..it was the life he gave to them.. how he let us veiw the world through the eyes of a child. And you my friend, "You're a good man Charlie Brown".....thank you... for the reminders....the rememberences....have a wonderful Christmas.
