lit a single candle for myself
and placed it deadcenter of a day-old cupcake
wrote "Happy birthday, darling;
we love you very, very, very much"
on a piece of notebook paper
and left it on the table for you to find
because I know that you forgot... again
and sixteen don't mean shit
when you're one of five
but I kind of hope
that you'll feel bad anyway
Author notes
This didn't happen to me, but I thought it'd be a pretty badass thing to do if it had. I actually wish my parents had forgotten my 16th Birthday. It wasn't worth writing about at all.

There is a dark and macabre sense of humor in this one that stems from the acerbic wittiness resulting from a sad situation~~good job

Wow
This is equally as incredible as the last one. I love your poetry, really. This is such a sad poem, and I'm very glad this didn't really happen to you. I would probably cry.
Again, an amazing write.
Peace and love

This is so sad. I'd hate to have my birthday forgotten by my parents (I'm assuming that's who forgot). I'm an only child, so it isn't really a problem when it comes to be. But even if my best friend who I've known for a really long time forgot, I'd be upset.
But I also like how you have the little bit of "revenge" with the cupcake. It gives this story a twist. Thanks for entering my contest.
Blessings, Skye.
