Atlantis

Atlantis,
how great you were.
A society,
ahead of its time.

Philosphies
flourish through man's
inventions and
intuitions.

Great minds freely
think of ways to
improve quality
of peasants lives.

One great nation,
obliterated
over man's folly
and stupidity.

Plato's city of Atlantis. How terrible to imagine greatness on its knees. You simply reflected on what you've read and dictated your first emotion. Best wishes for the contest.

    fascinating subject

I have always been interested in the possibility that Atlantis really did exist. There are so many theories about what happened, who the people were, etc., and you have done a nice job with this poem.

Thank you for entering this contest, and good luck.

      .

I always believed Atlantis did exist. It was so long ago that it could really have and the land has changed so rapidly from then and now, it could have sank.

I like that you wrote about Atlantis, the mystery that has never been solved. Oh, if we only knew their secrets and how they lived, where would we be today? A very good poem.

It was a quick poem, but I say it's cool that you'd talk of Atlantis here. And it was I believe as you describe it. Sad how it ended... Good poem.
