Ready For You

Standing in the darkness, all alone
I see you and me sitting on the swings crossing arms
As we innocently glare in each other’s baby eyes
Without uttering a word understanding the question
We want to ask and know neither one of us has the response

So, we turn away and stare the empty park side
Where the shadow of future stands
To take you away, my best friend far, far away
Not just for a day, but for eternity

I suddenly softly asked you
Do you have to go away and leave me behind?
Could I come with you please?
You smilingly said, not this time
I will come back for you some other time

The silence walked in
Winds started to cry and moan
For it was now time when
You parents came to take you home

I came back the next day
Then the next and even today
It’s a silver jubilee of our friendship
Now I’ve got what you had then

I now see the light shining
Through the darkened clouds
The same shadow on the park side
But this time, you are accompanying him

I’m now ready for you
I’ve been waiting for fifteen long lonely years
My prayers are finally answered
God has gifted me once again with you

Yes, I’m ready for you
We were and we are friends
And will always be friends
Blood cancer took you away from me
Now I have it too, I finally got you back in my life
Only this time to be with you for eternity
