Laden with sickness and shame
Heavy with guilt and feeling forlorn He Touched Me
(Written by Bill Gaither)
Voices tell me things cannot change
“Shackled by a heavy burden
‘Neath a cloud of guilt and shame
But then the hand of Jesus touched me
And now I am no longer the same”
Chaos grips, my soul is churning
Feasting upon fear, agony
I hear the sound of an angel singing
Piercing through the malady
“He touched me, He touched me
And Oh the joy that floods my soul
Something happened, and now I know
He touched me, and made me whole”
Promises of strength unveiled
A light through darkness shines
Her words have in my heart prevailed
There for all of time
Author notes
For those of you who might have read this poem before, I would like for you to pay special attention to the credit on the song "He Touched Me". It was brought to my attention that I didn't credit this, and I wanted to make sure that everyone knew I wasn't trying to claim this work as my own. Rather, I was quoting it within my poem for effect. Sorry for the mix-up!!
