Come drum into the forest night
the fire is crossed with logs
and in the sky, magnificent
Hope wearing a dark blue cloak.
Let us align our hearts
to Creations’ fetal pulse
while round us sifting snow
whispers, “Peace, my loves, Peace.”
Move within the circle,
hold hands and circle round
with grandparents dancing dearly
in their neon colored shawls.
Oh, longest night and shortest day,
prepare us for the wait
by quietened season and silent night
and nature resting at our lullaby.
Drum slow. Drum sure.
Sing soft the lullaby of love
so when you waken, as surely you will,
Peace will be fresh on our lips.
Author notes
We joint he wolf Drum for solstices....we drum insidein the dorje-shaped circle, at the beach, on a high hill, int he shleter of the forest, depending on the season. My favorite is winter int he far north, but, now I am in Maine, we see only the fringe of the grandparents in their dance.

Amazing combination of both subjects of the contest, very creative, spiritually moving. Perfect title for this piece. Well done. Thank you for entering this piece into the contest.

I appreciate your comments and hoep the drums beat against your own knowing.....peace; a quiet wintry night, a circle of drummers, a fire that invites the Creator into our solitude..and peace...humming from the sky down.
