Did I tell I’m a darn good cook?
You may ask my family and friends
The best one to seek opinion from is Matt
Love of my life who dares not
To tell me otherwise
This is how I knew from the beginning
He really loved my cooking
I made him a first dish with love of lentil soup
I added all the right ingredients
Tender love and tons of passion
Of course apart from all the basic spices
Lots of red pepper with turmeric powder
Sure salt had to be there in the mixture
With other hot Indian ingredients
With finely chopped onions, hot peppers
In the boiled to perfection lentils
Served it hot as my elders had taught
In a beautiful bowl with carved spoon
One sip and he looked at me
Stared directly into my eyes and said
What would I do without you!
Confused with a smile on my face
I turned around to say
Thank you with a question mark
He laughed, took another sip
And off he went to the computer room
Of course with the soup bowl filled
Came down in an hour
Bowl was empty
Hugged me tight, I was wet with his sweat
It was cold winter night
He then gave me wet kiss on my lips
And said out loud
What would I do without you!
I immediately asked him, what does he mean?
All he could say was “I need to go to the bathroom”
I will be right back with an explanation
To your humble question
After a long time, I guess well spent thinking
Locked in the room we call bathroom
Out he came smiling
Kissed me again and said
I love you way too much and will always love you
But please don't ever make me lentil soup of any kind!

This is a wonderfully humorous poem, I quite did not expect the ending. It made me giggle a bit.
NIce poem. I enjoyed it well, as it goes with the John Lennon tunes I am listening to at the moment,
"watching the wheels"

a good poem, it made me smile but the flow seemed a little awkward in places, for example, the ending here.
I love you way too much and will always love you
But dare not ever make me lentil soup of any kind!
but dare not etc - personally i think it would flow better if you said - but please don't ever make me...
i thank you kindly for entering your poetic piece and good luck to you in this contest - spill ink and twist me into the crazy shape of love...

Love lentil soup - although maybe the one you made had a bit extra in it - seems those hot spices made it a abit too hot for this guy. Easy to read and understand, funny to read as well. Light hearted and soup for thought - LOL
