"You said forget about the past,
Your mask is wearing thin."
You said to move on and live,
But what life are you living?
Just because you have put a shield up,
It doesn’t mean that you’ve forgotten.
Just because you say you’re okay,
Doesn’t mean I’ll believe you.
I know it is there,
No matter how far back you push it.
You know it’s bringing you down,
And seeing you like this is killing me.
You haven’t told me what it is,
Or even when it happened,
You don’t even talk to me,
But I’m letting you know I’m here.
No matter how sad you get,
I’m staying by your side.
I hate that dark look in your eye,
Because I know how beautiful you are.
I hate your hunched over shoulders,
Because you were born to stand tall.
I hate the frown set upon your face,
Because we all know you were made to smile.
I hate the tears falling down your face,
Because I know that’s your soul dying.
But know that I will love you,
Until the day stops turning into night.
