Remember when all of it was her milk?
The whole thing turned on her breasts' milk and this
Almost a girl in the middle of the night lifting the baby
To hear him burp,
And you have touched a girl's breasts, your
Fingers in solemn reverence of stars and galaxies and
Her, composing the song, melodious as the little boy
Laughing in his sleep.
Likewise the night when you woke at a sound,
The tired girl was asleep, her breasts uncovered
And the infant had risen up, had risen up and was
Calling to her,
And you understood his melodious language.
Author notes
This is not exactly my experience of insomnia but still appropriate to the contest I think. Being kept awake by a baby is something like insomnia. Well, hope you like it.

A wonderful description of that time when the baby keeps you awake. I have two and was kept up more often than not. I learned to sleep when they did and got through that part. Lord help me but one is now a preteen. LOL. Well done. Very loving and the flow is smoothly written. Loved it.

Interesting...
I find this very excelent in style and prose. This kind of poetry I truely enjoy reading. It makes sense in so many ways, yet you can read and reread over and over and still find yourself learning.
It sends such a clear meaning.
I would change the title a little, it fits some, but in my opinion, it doesn't seem quite righ.
I like it and I find it interesting and enlightening.

Interesting write - remember that feeling of having to feed my son because he was hungry or my breasts were so full they started to hurt. Those first few months are tough, getting used to being awake so often, and then how wonderful when they finally sleep through the night. Some take much longer than others.

And I love this one too. I am going to have a baby in December (my first), and I have been voraciously reading everything I can get my hands on about childbearing/rearing and breastfeeding. I love your obviously loving description here, and I am adding you to my favorites
