A sad face is good for the heart

"Sorrow is better than laughter, because by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better" - Ecclesiastes 7:3

There's a time for sadness
it can be a cruel world
A sad face is good for the heart
you don't have to smile...
Shed a shared tear
for a sad shared year

Sitting at our windows
happiness is but fleeting
there's always tomorrow, and we wait
better be here soon...
don't ever stop
don't fight that tear drop

Maybe now I don't understand
it's something I can't fight
release the sorrow within
sadness is suffocating...
wipe it away
live another day

Sadness is good for the heart

    Prefect.

Totally agree. It seems lately that I tend to be leaning on the depression side instead of the happy-go-luvky personality....

    Very well expressed!

This is such a great poem and I totally agree with all you have said. And the ending was great, it finished it off beautifully. "Sadness is good for the heart". I love this line. Only when we can really feel sadness, can we really experience happiness. Well thats my view anyway. Great write and congratulations for the gold trophy.

    A thought with surround sound!

Ah, yes... we are surrounded by sadness and mostly we kick it in the corner where it gathers spider webs of invisible grief. Eventually, though it comes screaming out to attack us and I like your poem very much because if we followed your fine advice, we'd use a tear and get our sadness out where it could spark a little.

    Very Heartfelt Poem

Congratulations on winning the GOLD. I can see why it won. I love your poem and your Bible verse. Good does come from loss and sadness. It makes us stronger and more appreciative of the important things in life. Losing my son this year I realized how so true that is. Thank you for sharing this very uplifting write about a sad sad day in our nation.Take care.

    Bless you. Sandy

    Great write!

I give you 3 claps for the good quality of the poem.
The subject causes heart failure through worry and grief.
    Smile

Through sadness we remember those for whom this contest is created for. Another year come and gone, more memories of that disastrous event and the lives lost. Liked the flow and the way you interpreted this contest theme. Good luck in the contest.

Wow very deep. Maybe sometimes it is good to be sad, if you never are then you'll never really enioy the good things that life brings. Sometimes sadness is just too much though. Well anyway, it's a very nice poem and it's full of meaning. Very nice inspiration.
