How disappointing is ditched damsel’s lot -
One world begetting, by that world forgot !
Eternal Styx constricts fixed fate resigned,
Refused each pray'r where rancor finds mind blind.

Parody Alexander POPE – The Nun

Author notes

The Nun

How happy is the blameless Vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind !
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd.”

Any Pope Parody is likely to win my heart and this one is great, thanks for a wonderful poem.

She's not our Mary Jane but more than just worth a read!

Nice. Succinct. I love the third line. It so fits the scenario. Good luck in the judging! ~ Joyce

hmmm, your wizardry is at it again!

Such is the begetting of a world begot
by such cruel fates and mindless thought
that walks where love and life do not~~
    considering reckless, feckless plot,
Dear Jonathan, can we sack the lot?

    Nice poem,

and nice parody of Alexander Pope's "The Nun". However, as former moderator (on leave), I have to point out that you can not include Pope's poem in your own. You have to move his poem into your Authors Comments, or else a moderator may edit your poem and do it for you. Back to your poem, I liked how you made it sound like Pope, yet inverting the meaning in his words, you even rhymed in the same way as he did, and you even mimiced his rhymes. Great poem! To make the poem more parody, maybe rename it to "The None"? You got my applause! Jim
