I long for warmth

from gentler seasons

sliding over my sighs

with tenacity & strength,

easing past a secret smile

as the sun descends

in quiet splendor.

Winter brings weary woes

to my harvested hearth ~

cold solitude

is difficult to bear

within

this silent night's reaching.

I sway in sunlight,

seeking soothing rain

to hide my restless tears ~

a brisk wind

to subdue

my moments of weakness

& inevitable sorrow ~

only Summer

can save me

from these shivering

shadows

now...

We dance with the seasons, the song and partner often not of our choosing.

Your words stroke the heat of the soul that longs for its match in the warmth of a summer day. Beautifully done.

    Love, Tom B.

    Good

Very imaginative use of words and skillfully constructed. You use good imagery and maintain a poetic flow throughout the whole piece. A well written poem with strong emotions and a clever depiction of the seasons. Your colorful descriptive wording and use of great imagery brought it all to life within the mind and soul of the reader.

I love where I live but sadly there's not much sun in winter... I miss that warmth. it seems to reach and thaw where humans can't...

Even in the cold grip of sorrow you find the warmth of passion, my friend. This one is beautiful in its longing for a summer of the heart - I understand this so very well....even just a warm voice will be a summer. This is such a moving poem

Neat and elegant writing, one of those hard to comment. No one part could be selected as less or more quality. This is a poem of great quality.

I keep thinking your are experiencing sortrow, but then realize it's for contests. But you certainly understand sorrow, as I discern by your words. I know some sorrow every day, so it's on my mind and comes out in words to read, but the words never go far enough, it seems. Do you have the same experience? Are you in sorrow? As always, skillful write.
