Baby's first smile


There’s nought so welcome as a summer breeze
In the heat of the day to put you at ease
Or a nice hot bath, coming in from the cold
Is certainly worth it’s weight in gold
But the nicest of all is a baby’s first smile
That makes all the trauma of childbirth worth while.

    The subject matter of a baby's smile is a bit unrelated to the first two subjects in the poem, but this is very sweet and the emotional content justifies the poem.

    This is such a gentle and loving verse for babies. I was blessed to get to see her smile (though of course some will say it's gas, but I know better). Thanks so much for posting this for me. It's wonderful.
