My mutual of spirit, kindred sister of the heart,
world and time and space have tried to pry us both apart.
Proof of trust and loyalty and all we are and share
knowing when the waters deep we have each other there.
Unfortunately for her she’s the one of sense and mind,
which leaves me to be the one in trouble all the time.
So here I am again, the one who can’t behave,
but she is she and I am me….the one she always saves.
Dangling from this cliff, yet I do not have a care,
for I am losing grip, but she is standing there.
The one who always rescues me, each and every time,
preventing me from falling off of rocks I shouldn’t climb.
I have never been the safe one; Lord we know it's true,
and when I crash and burn she walks through fire too.
Secret keeper and confidant who can speak on my behalf,
knowing what goes on in me, drying tears and sharing laughs.
Lines faded over time; where she starts and where I end,
thirteen years of loyalty prove the blessing of a friend.
Every time my life’s a mess she always understands,
and as I’m hanging here again, I look up to see her hand….

Dedicated to Lindsay....my best friend....modern day Lucy & Ethel....every day is an adventure....hanging off cliffs is a hobby of mine....and saving me is her born job.

I had to read this just for the title! I have a best friend like this too! For over 20 years now we have been best friends. I always tell her that she will always be my best friend cuz she knows way to much!

Awww, not only is this wonderfully written with an awesome beat/flow/rhythm and rhyme, but it's a treasured message as well, or should I say tribute and recognition of an obviously true and special friend.
I always say I love the poems that express love and appreciation, because too often we take it for granted. It is certainly a blessing to be made aware of how someone treasures you I imagine.

This is the best poem ever. Me and you know that this is the truest poem ever written. My hand will always and forever be there to reach out to you when you need it. We are the modern day Lucy and Ethel even though neither of us will admit the we are Ethel. (just for the record you are.) You are the best friend I have ever had. Going thru life with you has been an adventure and some what terrifying at times but very fun. You make my life interesting. Thank you for always being there for me when I fall. Love ya Lindsay
