Midnight Ride

My beloved calls, her voice carries in the wind,
Mount my steed and ride hard towards her sound,
Past the hallow while the wind whips,
Over the lake with a single pounce.

Pull the reins circle round,
Smell the smoke see the flame,
In my path are fallen trees,
Someone has found our love forbidden.

I must find away for my love is true,
From my steed I leap drawing my blade,
Over the flames and into the blaze,
I shall find you my beloved!

My blade is swift and my movements agile,
Evil falls around me like dead leafs,
My feet beat the ground to her home,
I hear her cries for help.

Into the entrance and past guards,
I burst there like an angry dragon,
Inferno tangles making new colors,
Past the heat I see her held.

I growl a low warring past my fangs,
His movements are fast and his voice is corrupt,
“So you’ve come” he hisses,
His stake it meets and to the ground she falls.

For a moment I am stunned and filled with sorrow,
Hand clutches my blade and to him I charge,
Battle rages and blood is spilled,
I stand over a corpse.

I turn to my love that is slain,
In hope that a breath of life she may keep,
But I am too late for death has crept,
My lips to hers my vampire kiss dose nothing.

My should is empty and my heart cries,
In a fit I remove the stake from her and drive it into my chest,
I release my sword and take my last breaths,
I claim her hand with mine and watch my angel sleep.

Fire burns bright and covers the dwelling,
For all evident shall be ashes by morning,
The slayers may have taken her,
But not before I had slain many of them.

My last breath leaves my lips,
My body rumbles,
I rise to the darkness,
And she waits for me my beloved.

A very beautiful poem. I love the story with in talking of two lovers, chastized, and cast out, persecuted for having this love, very romeo and juliet, and yet very original. An absolutly beautiful job!
