Her innocent daggers still in my chest,
Heart beating rapid in chaotic rhythm,
I said goodbye, hoping it to be the last.
I let her hand part from mine,
As she dug her heals through my soul.
Tearing to ribbons what might be left.
In her eyes a blazing inferno,
At once with love or with rage,
I never could tell which it was.
Lies and betrayal by her deeds,
Yet I would face all the wrath,
Drawn from her twisted conscience.
Whipping, razor tongue lashing out,
As like her nails across my face,
Another scar for time to fail to heal.
And in a moment of sudden courage,
Of desperate, battered flight,
I freed myself from my mad love.
I caught the hand as it descended,
One final blow to set the mark,
No more would I bleed for her.
