goods in short supply
prices affect affordability
poor go starving
sellers harvest dollars
fiber diverted to bio-fuels
energy for comforts
took over precedence,
supplies dwindle
people run from store to store
stocks run out displayed
hoarded to create scarcity
with tightening screws
imports turn costly
crisis suffers deprived
food, much more,
earnings never match needs
recession cutting wages
jobs disappear
like a bubble
real wages depreciate
unemployed run pillar to post
to find a job for survival
Author notes
Recession affects poor most and also young who are not employed

I like your topic. It's real and it's actually about something that matters. You see many poems on here that don't have any valuable content. I'm glad you are thinking and writing about things that matter. -

Yes; recession does affect poor people the most.

Thank you for your entry. You described it very well. "real wages depreciate". Good luck in the contest!

Very well stated and so true. Recession affects the middle class the most, I feel, as they try to stay afloat, helping to pay for those who won't work and still have enough left to feed themselves and help the poor.
I especially like,
'earnings never match needs'
'jobs disappear
like a bubble'
Great write!
best wishes in your contest.

This is such a great write about recession. You have done well to explain how everything is connected and it always hits the poor first. WEll done.
