Gondola..

Missing image

Beneath the sunshine on a summer's noon
When the world is nice, the breeze is chill,
With laughter around, life's like a boon
With splendour on the spill..

I see the ripples all in a jocund mood
When the Beech wood oars tickles the water slow,
With the face of clouds, the wavelets elude;
Smiles 'midst the wrinkles, as he takes to row..

Sounds from hawkers, there's music in the air
Beneath ev'ry canal, comes the promised kiss,
Resplendence brimming the Venetian Square..
Every wall holds a tale of bliss..

And its summer still.. noon-time still..
We are sailing beneath the golden gleams,
The world is nice, the breeze is chill..
Its just a page, from my book of dreams..

  • This poem elicits a sigh in it's softly romantic tone. To float in sunlight truly appeals to me right now. I can't imagine what it would be like to live in a city with water for streets, but clearly you can!

    Lovely, Sweet Raspberry

  • Awe... What a beautiful picture you have painted in my mind. Love this my favorite line was...

"When the Beech wood oars tickles the water slow," very soothing and a little enchanting.

Best of luck in the contest.

You always manage to transport the reader to wherever you are in your poem. Another example of the ability you have to do it. Wonderfully worded and as always a pleasure to read

  • You have sailed your gondola with style. Oh what a delightful piece and the image brings me memories of so long ago...

I already took a charm...such a doofus I am. *rolls her eyes at herself*
  • OK Time to grab a charm from someone else, move your charm list to your author's notes and pen us a beauty about your chosen charm.
  • That antique piano has clearly grabbed my attention. OH my what a great list.
