- Going Under - [Warning-Graphic Images]

Salted liquid ascended above normal sea levels,
drank Life's essence from pores of Innocent offspring
who sacrificed their Soul atop firm foundations,
unaware of a temperamental predator.

Nature grew impatient, barraged with blank bullets.
Tested livelihood of island inhabitants.

Within minutes, destroyed village fledglings as military
piranhas circled in cold pools
with sharp teeth and watched thousands drown~

observed their flesh fall victim to Voices of the unseen

from all around which tore families apart,
framed Humanity in positions under water, catatonic.
Consumed c
itizens who floated their worth
in mouth of puddles.

Amidst disasterous conditions, Dignity danced sadly
within Sorrow's rain, slowly exsanguinated,
will exterminated.

Tiny limbs traced along wooden legs, stripped
and broken from trees coiled around
bodies submerged between Light also Dark.

Outside barriers, uniforms ostracized the living,
forced them to witness water rape
their family-friends
beneath
cries collapsed in Grief, tone ignored.

Soldiers stared with smile while women walked,
arms emptied of treasure, their babies left behind
under foliage, faces in a fixed trance.

Spirit of survivors starved as Government Junta
rejoiced and continued to claim Victory
with relief efforts
rotting
like the cadavers curdled in mass clusters~

stench ignored by men with hardened Hearts
whose own r
igamortis reached new heights

but they (in uniform) could
still walk blissfully
amongst the dead while serving decomposition;
however, they eat the fresh food meant to feed.

Song- Rest in Peace

Hypocrisy before cameras-
to *pretend* lack of Compassion
does not exist...

I hope this fits for the contest-
the lyrics seemed to merge re:
overall message...say one thing
but do another...

thank you for your entry! this is a sad eye-opener to about such inhuman travesties in war-torn countries. while the prompt is a "tad" bit more light-hearted, i can see what you mean in your AN. nicely done. make love not war...

I never heard of this group but watched the video- and it reminded of how calm- can escalate to violence- borders set-crossed- etc...where two sides can clash-
I also had on Mind the monks- who were brutalized- for trying to demonstrate peace- peacefully Thank You for the Generous comment
  • I do apologize that I have to delete the contest but due to the lack of entries I have to...

  • This is such a disturbing write and very sad. Your words are all to true and paint such sorrow.

  • A Good Write

Wonderfully written write you have penned here Desire. It is full of deep powerful emotion.Feelings that tug at the readers heart. The story told within your words is strong and clear. You have written from deep within your heart and this shows through your written words. As always, you have been a pleasure to read, I enjoy hearing your voice on matters of the world. The only thing that I dont like, and felt strongly that it was not needed, and that is the posting of the picture.Being a mother myself and grandmother, viewing such horror of drowned children,it physically made me feel sick.Your poem is very powerfully written and really doesn't need such a picture as your words are enough to get the message across to the reader.Maybe you could go back and edit the post by putting at the top of your write a warning of some sort about the picture,as readers may get a shock at viewing such a horrific picture as I did. Please take no offence at my words, I mean no disrespect of your work, I just feel that the picture posted needs a warning of some sort as it is a very sensitive subject seeing drowned children.
I wish you all the best in the contest my friend.
Take care and many beautiful blessings to you of love and happiness.
    Your friend in poetry,
    ~Angel~

and Thank You for visiting Beautiful and You are right about the Warning~
I was shocked and disgusted that the Gov't Junta would continue to just dump bodies in the water...many times it can be unfathomable to the horror unless one sees the image~

I could not believe the scene without seeing how they were left...could not imagine officials ignoring the little bodies and then continuing dumping more instead of burying

and nooooooooooooooooo me no take offense for I am a mother of two...and wanted to scoop these little ones up~
they deserved a decent burial...not left there day after day
      Thank You Precious!!
      Appreciate Your time and Voice
