sappy

seeing is believing, but can you believe what you see
do you see the truth, whenever you look at me
because i know what i see when i look into your eyes
but i don't know if what i see originated from lies
i can see that you try to love me the best way you think you can
but i think you can do better, stop blaming it on being a single man
i see it when you say you love me, so i believe that you do
but can i really believe in the love i see from you
is it real, sometimes its confusing, can i trust what i see
or is it all just a big mask meant to hide the truth from me
my vision is sometimes blurred by wanting something so much
so i might just miss something when i am wrapped in your touch
so how do i determine where to go from here
how do i know if i have something to fear
i guess that is why love can be considered risky
because one minute you can have it then it is gone briskly
or it will stay with you forever but you never really know
until you test the water and give it a go

I really like how you captured the ambivalence, the longing, the fear and the hopeful expectations ... they are all rolled up in a vibrant, anxious, beating heart. thanks.

  • Have I lost the plot? A single man has no capacity for love? Blames this on being single??? Isn't that the very person who is capable of giving all? An individual may be limited but the single man per se - not in my book. I think the poet is too demanding and gets as little as she might deserve? Or, have I still missed the plot? By the way - your background/foreground font is unreadable in morning light. Necessaey to find and click "Hide background" - awful nuisance.
  • WoW! How true, love is a sweet thing that can turn sour in as little as an hour. I loved this piece! Nice write!

I will comment on this..I LIKED IT! I especially liked the last line...until you test the water and give it a go. YOU ROCK! THANKS!!
