mommy went
she basked you with love
little lizard
and went
it’s daddy time
and I’m doing things
dreaming lofty dreams
piddling
you're content
to kick your legs
conduct invisible orchestras
smile
and when your
brow wrinkles
your fluttery lip quakes
and disonant pleas
petition me
daddy will be there
I'll hold you--
--calm you
and we'll coo each other
tender fulfillments
to my son, Aedan

ooohh this is so tender. what a lucky child to have such a doting father. Your poem paints a lovely visual image - I can just see that baby kicking and waving his arms "conducting".
This is such a sweet sentiment coming from a father. I loved this. - NANGALEEMA

Very very dear
When you set a word apart from the others, it holds the chord. You can't keep reading until you taste that word well enough first: little lizard, piddling, smile, calm you, gentle fulfillments. Sometimes when a poem flows really well the only drawback (of sorts) is that one ends up reading it too fast. What you wrote was meant to be read meaningfully - and you wrote it perfectly. You make the reader feel the sheer joy you feel in fatherhood. This is beautiful.

What a lovely surprise to see such a sweet poem for your son--from a father. I see so many from mothers, but there are so few from daddies, and this one is just darling.
My husband and I have a new grand daughter that we saw for the first time this past weekend, and this darling little poem just touched my heart as it brought back the memories and elongated my weekend through my mind and heart. Thank you so much for that. Your son is a lucky little boy. Patricia

Jimi Hendrix once stated, "Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens." When I read your poem, it made me think of that. The loving hands reaching out, gently stroking and enveloping your young son, making him feel safe and secure says more than words ever could. And words that aren't put into action are just spent breath. Beautifully done! Thank you for sharing and best wishes to you in all of your endeavors. Keep that pen handy and ever ready for use dear poet.

This is an incredibly sweet write to your son. Daddy time is so important to our little ones and is still important as they grow. Nice job on this poem; it is very touching. Blessings, Patty
