Saturday 9:07 pm
He closes the door.
It's so quiet
And she thinks
And she thinks to herself
Well, I hope he has a safe ride home
I wonder what he does all week-end
With all his time
He certainly isn't using much of it on me.
Well, he's busy
He works all week taking care of his family
God, how long has it been since I've seen
The little darlings
Now let me see, yeah
There's three girls and the little whopper snapper
What the hell is his name?
Shoot, I'm getting so old I can't even
Remember my own grandchildrens names anymore
Well I'm tired I'm goin'na bed
Guess I'll turn in early tonight
If someone calls I'll just
Get up and answer the damn phone
Hunh! It ain't likely anyone will call anyway
Damn stairs
I suppose I should
Have moved a long time ago
Frigin' house is too big for me
To much to take care of all by myself
Yup, all by myself
God I get so lonely
Now what the hell was that little
Young'uns name?
I'm lucky I can remember my own damn name.
I'll ask Charlie next week
Well goodnight house
At least you love me
Sunday 3:46 pm
I wonder what Charlie wants
Ain't like him to visit twice in one week
I hope nothin's wrong
I hope everythin's alright
God, I hope the little ones are all ok
Wonder why he couldn't tell me on the phone
Well He's busy with that big family
To cart all over hell's kitchen
AH! Here he is now
I can't wait to see them young 'uns
I cleaned the house all up
Took me all day to do what I used to do all day
Now if I can just move the curtain
I can look down and see
Well there's the kids
Playing out on the lawn
Guess they ain't comin' up
Sunday 4:43 pm
He closes the door
It's so quiet
She thinks
And she thinks
Guess it ain't gonna hurt nothing
Charlie will keep an eye on the young 'uns
So's they don't wreck the whole house
The house sure is gonna' be happy
With a whole slew of family livin' here
House was too big for me
To take care of all alone anyway
It'll help Charlie and his family
I'm gonna' go lay down
I don't really mind
I really don't mind
Going to the home
'Cause Charlie said there
Really ain't enough room
For all them and me too
And she closes the door
And she thinks
And she thinks
And she cries
Author notes
Think! This true story is repeated throughout the world thousands of times over.
Maxboy has my permission to print this poem, ( SHE THINKS ) PoeticLove!, Dorothy Wood
I know there are a lot of repeat lines in this, but the elderly repeat themselves constantly, so I decided to leave them all.
I think it's a sad situation that so many of our loved ones are .....forgotten

well done
I find it hard to say I liked your poem because it is so true. I loved the way you wrote it and think it is very good, but it just depresses me the way we treat the ones who treated us so well, a crying shame. I meant to say what I meant was what was I saying. Thank you for writing this many need to read it. -
Very sad, as it should be, and happens all to often. Nice write that fits the contest well.
Glad I didn't ask for long ones. haha
Thank you for your entry.

This is a very sad story. I hate to see the elderly mistreated in this fashion. Bravo on this one. Shancy.

Thank you for the great review on 'She Thinks"
I would say I enjoyed writting it, but I didn't, by the time it was done, I was depressed. Thanx, Fitz, Dora7

Precious write ...
and you have me in tears ...
I love the aged. I love then as much as I love children. And: I love children as much as I love adults ... and adults are all children growing old.
SO: I love ya all!
Thank you for making my heart twitch.
