The Artist Is The Page

Pens race squiggly-brained
in sketch books
where monarchs march
as martyred bookmarks
dictating a favored page

Emotive scribbles
dance in dog-eared dreams
where even vines can comprise
a fashion trend
if that is what the artist deems

Sighs will rise like centipedes
from fingered breeze
of spine's caress
and crawl upon the silent eyes
of fluttered fog
and fevered seeds
Then, and only then!
will strokes sequel Macbeth,
tackling white in blind ambition
as the colors spill
from papered boundaries
and the artist becomes the creation

    Exquisite!

Oh...soooo great. Your words themselves are the creation of a living art. No blank white page here...not when a mind such as yours holds a pen between two fingers. You should have won gold for this. Unbelievably good...alby

This is an excellent piece but the repitition of fillers like "a" "and" "the" hinders to the flow of the poem itself. Full of imagery as well. Best of luck in the contest

I can understand why you were so proud of this, you cocky poet.

Amazing take on the prompt...you took so much from just a picture, and that's just fantastical.

There's such a casual (but eloquent) tone to this poem that's just awesome.

    "squiggly-brained"
What a fun little phrase here.

    "as martyred bookmarks
    dictating a favored page"
    Love, love, love this!!

    "Emotive scribbles
    dance in dog-eared dreams
    where even vines can comprise
    a fashion trend
if that is what the artist deems"
Bloody hell, this entire stanza was amazing...I couldn't dissect my favorite-est lines of my favorites...LoL. "Emotive scribbles" is a truly brilliant way to describe 'A person's writing'...Haha..."dog-eared dreams" is really nice too and there's just so much truth squeezed in one stanza...full of meaning.

"and the artist becomes the creation"
Great ending. And so true...we're only known for what we do, isn't it?

  • OOooooh! A very well penned piece of intricate depth and powerful thought. Awesome use of imagery and detail...

    "Sighs will rise like centipedes
    from fingered breeze
    of spine's caress
and crawl upon the silent eyes
    of fluttered fog
    and fevered seeds"

    Love those lines... Excellent piece!

    Thoughts

Take this as no offense but it felt like you was starting to describe the image a bit but managed to catch yourself.  Also on that note, when someone foregoes the usage of punctuation, they need to give the illusion of 'flawlessness'. I think if you were to add in a space where the line(s) starts at: "emotive scribbles....." the illusion of being abstractively flawless will be achieved all the greater
  • my dear you brought the image to life with such wonder and grace. I am proud of the depth you take in your writing and glad that you came back to it. much love and many blessings always xxx

Wow. that's really good. I love all the alliterations and how you use metaphors to emphasize your point. I especially like the figurative language about Dog-eared dreams.
