Confinement Within

Blue eyes dancing before your face
A warm soul filling with painful grace
Paint her heart black and cold
Mend her till she fits your mold
Carve your knife into her skin
Laughing as you sew her fake grin

So real, yet so fake

You build the bars as she cries with shame
Her life replaced with your selfish game
Tears; running rivers, falling from her pores

Self and others images form wars

Her confinement; one she made her own

Who she is, not yet known

Her best friend, yet her biggest enemy

HERSELF

Release the chains and the fears

So little time to live her years

Feel the shame and love and joy

Laugh and cry; learn to destroy:

Others needs that overwhelm your own

Don't become just another clone

Claw your way through the skin

Bleed happy and free, sew your own grin

Author notes

Sometimes everyone elses wishes and wants overwhelm who you really are. You start to mold into what they want you to be; losing yourself. Sometimes it's ok to make mistakes or to pretend to be someone else. But you should always remember who you are and where you came from; your morals and beliefs.

  • I like the way that you express yourself. It is clear and bold. Your poetry is natural and flows well. The rhyming is great. Very well done.

Everyone has felt like this at one point or another, and that's why this is great - it's so relatable! Well expressed, well done.
  • I so know what you mean and this is a strong subject. I agree with your AN's, we should be true to ourselves, yet we are all guilty at times of trying to hard to please others, and in the process we lose who we truly are. I really enjoyed your take on this. Thank you for your entry.
