Falling footsteps
Early evening in amongst the pines
An earthly aroma
of midsummer night dreams
A simple riding dress fits you best
When walking with your love under the heavy Scottish moon
A haunting song brushes against your cheek
Look at me when you speak
"I love you" is best said with open eyes
The three words when ill used I oft despise
But not now
Not here
Upon this grassy knoll
Laying on my back
Under moonlight's tide
Staring at the stars
Trying to decide which ones are ours
You snuggling sleepily against my side
Gentle clouds drifting across my sky
Bits of tattered moonbeams wriggling through
to meet my eye
What is the reflection that you see?
It is only fair
that if you answer
I should share
I see my lady and I
reflected in that which lies
above
Two sleepy hearts under a Scottish moon
Happily in love.
Author notes
(option 3: love)
Another one I will have to read to my wife. I hope she doesn't mind the timing.
