The Wall Of Orbawog

Once upon a time ago in a land of misty fog
There lived an ancient people in a Wall called Orbawog
The wall was down beneath the Earth, their sun was like a gem
It never rained in Orbawog, but a mist would water them
The rivers that ran through the land were smokey colored gray
And it was said that sometimes you could hear the currents pray
The grass was blue or purple, depending on the dew,
And the air was almost yellow, the flowers very few

The villagers of Orbawog were never known to lie
They never hurt a single soul, no one would ever die
Peace flourished throughout their world with never any crime
Nobody grew old their, because there was no time

They didn't build their houses out of the forests trees
They used the pink and poka-dotted moss that fed the stees
The stees were humble animals that the villagers would ride,
If they had to travel fast, or to find somewhere to hide
The stees were blue and silver, With pink and orange toes
They were smarter than the Earthlings, or so the story goes
The Orbawogan's never walked, they never touched the ground,
They floated just above the mist, and hardly made a sound

But the Wall had protection from the violence up above
The great Wizard of Orbawog protected it because
He vowed the wars of Earthling land would not provoke their peace
A mighty spell would change to stone any who would not cease

The world up top was different, with violence and war
And everywhere you looked, there were guns and soldier corps
The three men tried to stay alert, hiding behind the briar
And Germany ordered it's men to always aim and fire
They stayed awake all through the night, 'till sun and rain collided
When a Wall appeared in front of them, they all three were blind sided
They walked over to where it stood, to get a better look
When suddenly the earth beneath them trembled and it shook

They became as stone and to this day, they try to hold
The Wall from going back beneath the ground, so dark and cold
One on the left, one on the right, one climbing the partition
An Everlasting monument of the Wall's new acquisition

Thank you for your entry in the contest. An interesting and long poem telling of a fantasy land. Your rhyme scheme is good, but your flow and meter cause the reader to stumble and have to re-read, which spoils the enjoyment.

All the best ... Sue and Jeff
