“Amazing Grace,” she sang, heart and soul
As life itself would takes its toll.
“How sweet the sound” of her pleasant voice
Like a heaven bound angel's hymn to rejoice
“That saved a wretch” like her and me.
Grace, sweet grace has set us free.
"I once was lost but now am found" as a sheep from the wild.
Now I rest in peace as an innocent child.
“T'was grace that taught” to let go; to forgive.
As we receive, so are we to live.
“My heart to fear” admire and respect,
For we are weak a mere dust spec.
“And Grace my fears relieved," not taken away
For evil still exists, but I get through the day.
“How precious did that grace appear.” My soul was washed clean
As she sang the words as though soon she'd not be seen.
"Was blind, but now, I see" the truth of love and grace,
Freely given; freely received for children to embrace.
“The hour I first believed” I hold on to grace still.
Though the songbird is gone I carry on living in Grace's will.

Author notes
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me -
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
T'was Grace that taught -
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear -
the hour I first believed.

Now, how about attacking the rest of the song? I'd be interested to see what God shows to you about them so you can show us. He shows us all what we can handle with the same central message, just makes it speak to the individual. Thanks for the write!

Just So Beautiful
What a beautifully penned poem you have written here. Oh I love this song. It is so humbling your beautiful poem is which is just right where I need to be as much as possible. The grace written in this poem is so full of truth and I'm so grateful for this. Also your imagery is beautiful as well. Thank you for sharing with me and best of luck in the contest.
Many Blessings
Much Love

This whole piece .. is such beuty within poetry..every line touched me gave me a whole new light the the song, but with it still there
Stand out to me--
“T'was grace that taught” to let go; to forgive.
As we receive, so are we to live.
“My heart to fear” admire and respect,
For we are weak a mere dust spec.
Thank you for this wonderful, spiritual entry

Beautiful~
Penned so beautiful...
Indeed evil is around us every day on every street corner...even in the stores people shoplift and steal...
There is evil and then there is evil.....
Your imagery and poem went well with the prompt..
Best of luck in the contest
Hugs
Susan~~~
