as the angel of death rises above our broken city
we live on as if we see nothing
we live on as if there arent people in the streets
as if there arent people dying everyday
we live on oblivious to everyones problems but our own
the lights might all be out
and the buildings in shambles
but we,all of us, live in our own worlds
not noticing that death surrounds us
no plains fly above us nor birds
no grass below us
the sidewalk beneath our feet
a shadow of what used to be
and now a land for weeds and bugs
the sewer caps lay open
and the stink is horrendous
but unnoticed by our blind eyes,
our clogged noses,
our deaf ears
we walk on in our monotonous routine of selfishness
and we notice nothing
too cought up in what is our everything
but is truly nothing
as the angel of death rises above our city
we walk on as if it is a normal day

Your words express the apathy that humans experience as their world is falling apart around them. Your words provide many strong images and thoughts for the reader.
Thank you for your entry, and good luck!
