i stare at you as your mother drifts in a motionless slumber
i search your newly formed features to find semblance to mine
you are so handsome, so gentle, so angelic
daddy's little cherub!
you open your eyes and seem to be focusing on me
bewildered, and reverent as i...
i can not stop the cascading of the brine
i must touch you, hold you close to my tell-tale heart
allow it to synchronize with yours
the years toddle forward
you grow, you learn
as i learn and grow into fatherhood
but yet some how, your mother, my love
erases the memories of us
neglects the existence of father
i become untethered, subtly forgotten
but i maintain you and i
cant hold back the smile when you call me Daddy!
time marches on, refuses to idle
classrooms beckon you
crayola and elmer assist me
as i assist you, daily
i love your mother
she barely recognizes my presence
mommy becomes akin to an arctic wasteland
however, she can not keep us apart
until science proved
Mother's baby and father's... maybe
I love you, Son
Goodbye

the end of this confused me... um... why are you saying goodbye to your son at the end? Other than that, you did a pretty good job writing this. I really liked the beginning, it did start wearing a little dull on me in the end, but I did enjoy reading it. Thanks for the entry. best of luck.

I said goodbye because after DNA (science) revealed I wasn't the biological father, his heartless mother exited my life and took him away for good. Although, after raising him for six years, I still felt like his father. Hence, the "I love you, Son" and the "Goodbye". It's always mother's baby, but fathers maybe...
