Don't get me wrong. I don't hate men or anything. I love my boyfriend with all of my heart and soul. But there is no way in this world I would ever let him control me or make me feel like I'm less than he is. If he ever started that crap I'd leave in a heartbeat because I will never become one of those women who stay with a man out of the fear of being alone or that no one else will ever love them again. I would rather be alone than afraid and enslaved. Every woman deserves to be treated like a queen by her man, and every man a King by his woman.

Too many women feel that men are to be the dominant person in the relationship. And way too many men treat the women like a pet. You get em girl. It should be a fifty/fifty deal or no deal at all. I love this!! I feel the same way about any man that I am with! I may not be barbie, but I deserve, no scratch that, DEMAND to be treated like a queen and that I am beautiful. This is a very nicely written poem. To some, like me, seems almost impossible. I was one of the afriad to be alone people, who loved a man who enslaved her, who beated and maimed her, and reading this makes me feel so much more optimistic about the new relationship I have began to get myself into. Great poem.

I agree with you, however some of the sentences i find a bit extreme, for example, "he will grovel at my feet" while your author notes cleared things up a lot, i still think some of your sentences a little harsh, but i now know where you are coming from, so that brings everything into perspective. you started and ended this poem strongly, so good job and good write!

This is so true and well written. Sometimes we allow others (be it men or women) to dominate our thoughts and minds when in fact we have the power within achieve anything. I believe the perfect synergy is when a man and woman see the best in each other, build on that and only see good, nothing more. Opportunity to do better for the other person is their building block, not jealousy, hatred or control. Well written

Nice statement. And what will you do for him? Will you "break" him? Like a horse? His spirit? What if he tries to build you? Will you try to build him up too? What if it isn't about control, but compromise? How about respect? Respect for a relationship. You're right, man shouldn't try to control woman anymore than woman should try to control man. After all, if he is the reflection of she then he will make her look as good as he wants to been seen. But to be inflexible...? Interesting. You'll see eventually. Write on. One.

I could not agree more. I'm going to save this and put it on a notebook somewhere to take to school, so that all the girls that stay with these guys can read these words of wisdom. Love is not violent or controlling, and there is never an excuse for it to be.
