Hath “love” too soon upon our hearts been set,
By those who flatter? Alas, in brutal truth-
‘Tis those who soundly speak with words dulcet,
Have more in mind the taking of our youth.
Men speak of kindly words yet somehow fail,
To see candour and kindness as a joint,
For asked a question, truthful men would speak,
Of words which did not lie so wide of point.
Yet he who fails to capture love in words,
Should worry not to try and praise in vain,
For it is clear by pure and simple hearts,
That he and love itself, are often twain.
And bid us not that we should make the glum mistake,
To wildly, rashly love, for loving’s sake.
Author notes
This is a sonnet.
About not being too hasty with love and those who flatter.

i really like this sonnet and it flows well, the only sonnet i have wrote didnt have great reviews and i gave up on writing them, i think this has a wonderful story line behind it and i like the way that the rhyme isnt forced, i like how you have used the old lanuage in this poem, congratulations on your HM and keep up the wonderful writing ~Amy
