I show him the snail shells;
the big striped ones and
the perfect white spirals
that we found by the canal.
Georgia O'Keeffe would
like them I think.
So practical, so serious,
the mind of a mathematician;
"What will you do with them?"
he's compelled to ask.
I laugh as I answer, "When people come over
to the house, I'm gonna say 'hey, check out
these cool snail shells we found by the canal!"
