Hooray for Stars at night,
Oh how they shine so bright,
I wonder what you are,
We love you,love you MA!
Yes we love you MA!
Yippee for stars at night,
Up in the starlight bright
A super diamond high,
Oh yes you're way up high.
Yes you're up way up high
Where?
High up in the sky,
Why?
Because we love to fly,
How?
On starlights diamond glow.
"Everyone sing!"
Hooray for Stars at night,
Oh how they shine so bright,
I wonder what you are,
We still love you, love you,
love you MA....ha ....ha!

Very neatly done... However, perhaps you could have done something about the "how wonder what you are"> aspect...
Mind you - even 40 years back I heard a neighbour's son singing:
Twinkle, twinkle little star,
I know damn' well what you are!
You're a cloud of glowing gas,
Heated up by change of mass!
So maybe we do not need the "wondering" element any more!

I find myself rather wishing you could have parodied the word-play of ALW's lyricist on "Starlight Express" - Richard Stilgoe! Good, though.

Well, I didn't pick up on A L Webber at first, but now that youu mention it, the resemblance is indeed uncanny. Of course, some of his lyricists do lack a bit of finesse, don't they? I quite liked the Twinkle Twinkle version by the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.

But yours has much more enthusiasm! Hooray!

I had "Hooray for Hollywood" stuck in my mind when I wrote this. It drove me crackers. Then I saw your contest so you can have it stuck in your head as well....lol.
Why should I be the only one to suffer!
