love in monochrome.

i.
love lied to me today.

ii.
I was skimming through
chapters of romance novels
where there were so many shades of rose and ruby
that I had to shove a shield of black & white trust
between my eye sockets
simply so they wouldn’t bleed crimson.

iii.
I moved on to the next aisle and discovered my heart

tha-thumping spasmodically on the floor;
it had fallen from display
and broken on damp pillows.

iv.
I found love today.
and it lied to me,
because all I saw were pale cream nooses
and even a few grey untruths.

v.
I flew today and found
that even the bottom of the sea is monochromatic.

    stanza number two

    exists without any support at all.
    i really liked the whole poem (poem as a whole), but re-read the second stanza several times... as it stuck me as extraordinary. smart, modern, descriptive.

    Unique take on the prompt, I must say and I guess, I'll have to also say that I like write with gray scale hues being mentioned ^^
    I pretty much like the subtle despair the persona felt and the imagery- surreal and confined in beauty, indeed
    Although, I think the starting line and the ending should switch; I feel like that would make much more sense to this piece but no matter, the write is still lovely as ever ~

    it's so intense and beautiful and it really painted a picture in my mind.

    those last lines ended the poem beautifully

    i also love the continuation of 'i' in 'iv' with the whole 'love lied to me' idea

    I love your take on the prompt. the presentation of your poem is different, interesting and I love it.
    the poem itself is something that I once could relate to. "Love lied to me today" says it all.. in many ways on many levels.
