She Screamed Freedom While Her People Wanted Greed

Missing image
The very monument of freedom,
overlooked within time.
She stood so proudly,
screaming freedom through time.

A land and its cildren,
unable to learn.
what freedom is,
and how it has to be earned.

There was freedom and peace,
the day she was built.
The people worked together,
and had respect and love still.

Now we see her adrift,
upon the lonely seas.
Still raising her arm for freedom ,
and liberty.

Our own people In such a rush to fall,
as other countries around us have.
Now the spoilt  and greedy leaders of our  nation,
where freedom won't last .

Author notes

Today homes of our hard working class are being taken away and some of those homes are being sold at a cheaper price to buyers from Cannada and around the world .Tell me what country would do such a thing to the people that pay their wages . Freedom enjoy it while you still can for our time is coming where it will be no more just a new age slave line sick unable to care for our own and yet they will never stop spending for their enjoyment in the offices we voted them into serving .

    Very True

This is a very honest piece of what will be the distructio of our world, we have become so self involved that we dont pay attention to the worries of the world and our neighbours, we are to self absorbed, and I wont say anything about our leaders, who rather fill their pockets and leave our countries in despair. I could just go on with this topic, its very close to my heart.

    OH SO TRUE!!!!

Your words strike a chord in my heart, I also believe we have become such a greedy and selfish people as a whole. We seem to be on a downward slide toward destruction if we keep on the pace we are going.

What a truthful view on the dumbing down of American people! WE really don't have a choice on who we elect. They are chosen for us, and we, (The people of a democracy - HA!) stupidly go to the polls and vote, because we "earned the right to"! What a travesty. There is no one of quality running, and if we choose NOT to vote, then we lose our freedom of so-called choice! If we vote, we elect those chosen by their own, the greedy ones! Bravo to your for writing a courageous poem of truth!

A very touching and relevant poem. I am a native New Yorker, so this touched me especially deep. The world is indeed changing, and I sadly must say that it is not all good changes. A most enjoyable read, and best wishes in the comp
