Twisted in a silver glint,
Touched in a reflection,
Where in a blink of an eye
death is just a breath away,
Fools rush in
where bravery meets,
And in that shadow
a whisper of fear
celebrates the moment
of when you meet your
opponent eye to eye,
Trying to find the comfort,
Instead,
Knowing hate,
Shimmering in blood and violence,
To stand proud in this battle,
What for?
Not understanding the cause
to this anger for this human life
you are about to take,
So within time
somehow my mind...
goes blind,
To understand this rage,
You have to read the page
of my life,
follow me
and maybe I'll explain
what's happening,
To this soul that feeds
in multiple
portions
to the unknown creation
of the silent blade.

The ending is fierce!
"And in that shadow
a whisper of fear
celebrates the moment
of when you meet your
opponent eye to eye,"
Oft' times that warrior spirit rises and we must fight. Your poetry engulfs the reader and makes us know that there is indeed a time that we must stand and wield our swords. Excellent!
Much Love Always ♥

I love the ending. Scythe-like isn't it? I also like the way you described that moment when death comes to take us. It is just a blink away. (We just don't happen to know which blink!) That idea is very illustrative of the uncertainty of life. Even after torment, pain, disease...the end finally seems to come abruptly.

Excellent piece of poetry here! "To understand this rage, you have to turn the page of my life" are the lines I liked most about this poem. Good work on this one!

Bill this is amazing. I loved the way you put this together, but when I read it, it makes me think more of modern warfare than that of yesteryear. Fools do indeed rush in when it comes to battle, or even something like a relationship. It makes me think about my own life, and the times when I have rushed into things, only to have them fall at me feet. Very intriguing, my friend. Keep up the good work.

I love this whole piece Bill. The story it tells, and the message it gives...a type of 'Fools rush in and often pay high'.....
Well worded, flows easily and is wonderfully constructed.

if it helps any...i'm still learning too when, how, why
the appropriate time is "unsheath" our blades!

what is the old saying...
what does it profit a man..to win every battle
and lose the war at hand.
choosing our battles wisely takes a life-time to
understand.
