You walk between the lonely lines
Nothing but your shadow as your guide
You’ve always dreamed for this
On one side there’s the pain of life
Everyone crying for lost time and love
No one walking silently away
On the other side there’s laughter
Happiness only seconds away from your road
But you don’t turn back
No one ever switches sides
Never have a reason to move in the middle
And so you walk alone
You maintain a constant speed
This is your chance and you want to savor it
You don’t know what lies ahead, only behind
You will walk as far as your legs will take you
By your self, not a another soul in your sight
You are lonely, oh God, so lonely
Now it’s time to make one last choice
Should you turn back or leave your friends behind??
You continue to walk forward
Yes, you’re alone, but you’re finally free.

i love the first stanza "You walk between the lonely lines
Nothing but your shadow as your guide
You've always dreamed for this" it just paints such a vivid image, and it makes you feel the turmoil the person is going through.its just a really great poem and I enjoyed reading it.

I find the image of people walking on either side of the track quite original. I like the set up of the poem.

I think I like it, but i'm not sure. It seems it was more focused on the picture, and not the actual prompt. I do love the ending though. Good job. thanks for entering. ~ Kerri

I don't like it either, but I saw the picture and prompt and had to write something.
I tried to focus it on the prompt, being alone and free at the same time.
Glad you like at least a part of it anways. -
