Itsn't it funny how much you want something
anything
you want it don't you
you need it don't you
you must have it
every fiber of your being knows this
why
because you cant
what the human mind wants
what it cant have always
the willpower is not enough
not when you love someone who hates you
the want is not enough
not when you cant afford the price
the need is not enough
not when the expirience is out of your reach
human kind the elusive breed
we want what we can't have
we deny glory the what we do have
we greedily steal
an kill
and hurt
pain because of us?
When a panther kills his prey
it's not seen as abuse, murder, or evil
it's seen as a way of life.
when a human kills his freind
evil now is born
do we go to Hell when we die?
are we already there?
or
is humankind itself a living hell?
perfection does not exist
no matter how hard we try and why?
because without the imperfection
there is no perfection to be had
without black there is no white,
white as we know it would fail to exist.
Pure evil does not exist
no matter how hard we try and why?
because without good there is no evil
there is no evil to be had
without white there is no black
black as we know it would fail to exist
life gives us expirience
gives us death
gives us birth
we take for granted what we have
want what we cant
good
bad
is humankind a living heaven
hell
heaven
hell
or
is humankind
the ultimate paradox
of balance?
anything
you want it don't you
you need it don't you
you must have it

Author notes
I wrote this kind of on the spot, I like to argue with people about ethics and humanity and my obsevations of life. You might not find it the most thought provoking poem out there-but it's how I feel.

Very nice write..so very true how the human instinct seems to always want what we can't have. what is just out of reach is what is so appealing to us. The thought idea is fantastic, I would suggest correcting the typing errors, but other than that, I think it is a fantastic write. Very well done...good job and keep up the writing "kinda on the spot". Maybe argue a little more and then write about it. Good Luck in the contest.

because without the imperfection

Absolutely profound!
is humankind
the ultimate paradox
of balance?
A thought-provoking question and a very good finish.
A wonderful write, reminiscent of an excellent soliloquy.
(There are a couple of typos that you may wish to edit...
the willpower is no (not) enough
the need is not enouhg (enough)
not when the expirience (experience) is out of your reach)

i've been in this mind set a lot recently because of personal events. people take advantage of things because being happy makes us dumb and ignorant, and when it's gone and we can't just ignore it, it's like a ripe knife wound that won't close. must have, must have, must have. i hate how it so often has nothing to do with what the person actually "wants". i don't know why we have this constant driving need.. i don't believe in god, or give the subject much thought at all, but if he's there then what is the point of our motivations? maybe we're mild entertainment. ANYWAY, i enjoyed the way you put this, and my answer's 'yes' to the ending question, and also 'realising it doesn't mean people change'.
very well done. got a little ranty there.. : )

Life is a lesson within ityself
Indeed as we are born and begin to grow we are given choices yet we are taught both good and bad then when we start making up our own minds we choose for ourselves there fore we can make our own heaven or our own hell humanity does have a choice so why would people choose to live in hell when in heaven they can have everything
