Head bowed in hushed winds
memories flood her soul
little girl tears
hovering dark lashes
fear grips the woman
knowing her nightmare
can not come to pass yet
guarding this grave
her only mission
waiting suffering
pleading his case
the ground she sits upon
shall not be touched
flowers of mourning
people do not send
in the silence
she knows
who holds the keys
asking with tears of intercession
her father will not rest here
memories flood her soul
little girl tears
hovering dark lashes
fear grips the woman
knowing her nightmare
can not come to pass yet
guarding this grave
her only mission
waiting suffering
pleading his case
the ground she sits upon
shall not be touched
flowers of mourning
people do not send
in the silence
she knows
who holds the keys
asking with tears of intercession
her father will not rest here

Oh this tares at my heart
Such pain often comes from love held for others we see in pain and often where age takes them to a far better place in time . Being there for them to walk them through heavens gate and to see within their eyey the love and the feeling in their touch the warmth of Gos hands

This is lovely, though laced with ineffable grief known only to those who have been in such a situation. I notice that some time has passed since th contest, but I hope that your father is doing well.
My favourite part:
"fear grips the woman
knowing her nightmare
can not come to pass yet".
Wonderful imagery and personification. Remember, your father wouldn't want you to be sad... You'll always be his daughter, his baby girl.
Well done!

flowers of mourning

These are such deeply meaningful lines. It's like reading something from the Lennon library, (John not the other guy). Such a tragic sweetness to this poem, it tears at the heart.
