For the past few years
I have felt like
I've been on brink of
still being a teenager
and not still being an adult
In a lot of ways
I still acted I like
I was fourteen in certain situations
afraid to glimpse into what reality actually was
Hidden in the shadows
afraid to come out of the dark
that's what i've been like
but now it's time too look past
all that
you only live life once
so I gotta live it for the moment
and STOP living in the past
Growing up is hard
some aspects have been harder on me
than they should've have been
but now I'm ready for the next phase
friendships come and go like the seasons
but i am not easily forgotten by others
I need to grow into myself
from the teenager I felt never grew out of me
to the adult that I should be feeling like.

So true! Transitions can be very hard...and growing up is a HUGE transition. I like how you call it "Growing Into Myself". I think that is a perfect title. I also like your picture of being on the brink.
Well written.

Nicely done
Ah, growing up - yes, we all have to do it - but when we become old we have the privilege of becoming young again. Very good poetry and you make your point well.

What a wonderful and heartfelt write. It is a very big and very emotional step going from Teenager to adulthood. I am 49 now and I still find I have the child in me at times especially around the holidays lol. Hang in there you are doing great it will get better. hugs Theresa

This is so true. Your age is a tough one because you are kind of in between childhood and young adulthood. I think many people do not feel the age that they really are. Inside, most of us still feel younger.
I think your feelings here are quite normal. Great poem stating some very confused feelings. Blessings, Patty
