“Obsession” is a word that most can understand
but it has a different meaning when it infects our life.
Its source is never understood, its effect unplanned.
It can disfigure love as though shredded by a knife.
They met quite casually although the impact was clear.
Their hunger was apparent from the moment that they met.
Thus began the lies, to find stolen moments to be near
and satisfy their needs which neither could forget.
As the lust and ardor faded, like waking from a dream,
one began to realize that what they had was false.
She was married with a family and no matter how it seemed,
and this was just a dance, a passing pleasure’s waltz.
Their passion soared and as she laid in her lover’s arms,
she explained it all in gentle words that this would be the last.
She never saw the darkness, blinded by her lover’s charms,
that would prevent her paramour from letting go the past.
She could not lose these feelings and as her blood began to roar,
her teeth ripped out the throat, as they lay there entwined.
They found them next morning, embraced amidst the gore,
a last dance that never ended in the madness of her mind.
but it has a different meaning when it infects our life.

SCARY picture, but a very great poem. It is interesting how you played poetic elegance against this dark and oddly sensual topic. A brilliant work.

This ...
is good:
“Obsession” is a word that most can understand
but it has a different meaning when it infects our life.
Its source is never understood, its affect unplanned. (its effect)
good, except for the typo.

Actually, it wasn't a typo - just a momentary void in my brain
Thank you for the correction and the read... I appreciate both!

Lately ...
I've got a lot of void in my brain. Unfortunately, it's not momentary.

My this one held me on the edge of my seat
Crafted in perfect words that brought this image to life
Dark darker and deep !
Sensual gore
Best wishes to you

Eew.
What's this...not sure where it came from, not your normal.
RUBBISH!! You love writing these gory, creepy things and you are so, so good at it. (In a freak me out kind of way).
Good luck in the contest.

passing pleasure’s waltz.
This to me is very haunting...
Most woman can relate to this... well not the dying part but having a 'fling' that was based solely on Lust till they wake up from the dream...realizing what they had...was NOTHING at all.. nothing but the fatal attraction that lead them to there fates, heart breaks, what ever you want to call it.. Very haunting piece im glad you chose to share this.
