where kestral hovered
dipped and rose above the field
dropped to the white rows
stalks of the last harvest dried
in ivory patterns of prey
vole scurrying down
stubble's line of direction
is struck, transported
to the top of the apple
proud hawk lets out its triumph

This is delightful. I have had hawks make passes at squirrel that were running from me in a tree. Hech. I had a mississippi kite make passes at me! I was cutting a pine 2 trees away from its nest and when I cut the top, it decided I was dangerous and tried to kill me! BIG GOLD EYES! I swung a saw at its dives like baseball. Very scary;.
