Motionless;
on black pavement,
his chalk traced body
seemed surreal.
Scott's ice cold ghost
stood beside me,
and in a whisper declared;
"I had to have one more..."
There,
he lay wasted
from years of drink.
Thrown afar
after deciding to operate
under the influence.
Friends and family insisted
his navigation skills would be impaired.
But Scott always, (whether sober or stoned)
took control of the situation.
Emily knew better
but they had had words,
and to follow her instruction
would have lead him to
a greater moral defeat.
He should have left the bicycle
where it was because
what he didn't know;
after so long,
the bike chain would snap.

Tragic...
Niaish.
I almost wish I hadn't clicked here, but to tell you the truth, it is an excellent thought to keep in the back of the mind - even bikes are hazardous to your health when drinking/drugging. Thank you for sharing your sad, yet thoughtfully told story, I am very sorry for the loss of your friend. May he rest in peace.
Take care, Cyn

My friend is alive, well, and always talks about drinking in his poetry, and the fictional charcater; "Emily". I was trying to write like he does. LOL Thank God I have lost no one in my family or close to me in this manner. I am sure there are many who have, and my sympathies go to them.
Scott Adelmann is the poet. He is an extraordinary poet and super friend. Thank you for your support this evening!
Much Love ♥
Renee
