i am but melting whiskey
and common language
searching for syllables
to light the night
with ice cubes
in empty glasses
that capture
calligraphy
in sparkling eyes
humbly breathing down
that feather my form
and riddle my soul
In a world filled with darkness,
words leap off of pages.
Stars...
illuminating the lives of those who read them,
bringing to light the joys and pains
obscured...
by ringing phones and unpaid bills.
i am not a dreamer
nor do i wish on stars
but
the sky is full tonight
and thick as honey
Stars...
beckon me home,
to you...
through your words.
a labyrinth of language
living on light
life
and
love

prompt:star-keeper
I chose to write with my wife Dena, her AP name is Aletheia. She knows more about my writing and life than anyone. She is my best friend and if poets need to have a muse, she is that brightest star.

oh, star-keeper that simply made me hold my breath from beginning to end. What amazing talent...the voices combined so perfectly..... what honor you are to all who wish to pen what stars dictate. Bravo!

Ahh the beauty of life among the chaos that you drew out within this is so amazing, And what a beautiful reason to write. If only we all had the brightest star.
As always Richard you leave me in awe..
These lines left me with such a vivid and bright image

I'd have to say you've both obviously done that, my Friend. What lovely harmony & intuition you share together; one song, two voices, blending into a rapturous symphony under the stars. Good luck in Carol's contest. I don't envy her task one iota.

Oh, this is just gorgeous, Rich! What strikes me the most is the FULLNESS. You begin with a "diminishing" description...but as we come to learn the "only" is more than enough. The two of you wrote perfectly together. Whether eyes or stars, this one sparkles. Congrats to the two of you, your love, your art.
