Another door shut
In the face of opportunity
Immunity is not something
That occurs in this side
of the world
Where mothers are left
And father's go on
To the here-after
Leaving children to trudge
On and wonder
Why
Why no one wants
The orphaned family
Left out of the
Make-up of the fabric
That is all to inclusive
And forces exclusion
In the tick-tock
Of the clock
That taps its hands
Impatiently and says
"Hurry move on, you're
No longer
Welcome"
Here in the homes of
The strangers you
Claim to love
And love becomes action
Which falls by the wayside
When the door is shut
And bolted
"Don't knock, not now
Not you,
Not again" is the
Silent cry echoing
From those too comfortable
To move and too moved
To create comfort for
Those who lay on
The cement road of life
Among the daffodils
That pry through the
Cracks
Where the hopes
And dreams fell at night
When opportunity knocked
And the door was shut
